Plant Growth Regulators Modify Fruit Set, Fruit Quality, and Return Bloom in Sweet Cherry

چکیده

Sweet cherry ( Prunus avium L.) is a valuable fruit crop worldwide. Farmers’ incomes are closely related to quantity and quality, yet these can be highly variable across years. As part of broader project for optimizing set quality in sweet cherries, this study was conducted evaluate the potential various plant growth regulators (PGRs) improving quality. Cytokinins, gibberellins, auxin, polyamines were used as treatments. Treatments applied foliar sprays at full bloom ‘Bing’ three low-productivity genotypes, ‘Regina’, ‘Tieton’, ‘PC8011-3’. We assessed set, return from each treatment. 4-chlorophenoxyacetic acid (4-CPA) increased by 53% 36% respectively. The combination gibberellin (GA) 3 + GA 4/7 more effective than other isomers alone. Cytokinin treatments had slight adverse effects or no effect on except CPPU. In ‘PC8011-3’, both N-(2-chloro-4-pyridyl)-N'-phenylurea (CPPU) 4-CPA enhanced ≈81% 100% compared with untreated control. response trees polyamine depended properties cultivars treatment concentration. Foliar application , N-phenyl-N'-(1, 2, 3-thiadiazol-5-yl) urea (TDZ) has negative bloom, whereas 1 increase yield flower buds. These results suggest that PGRs may have varied work needed develop practical programs security.

Fertigation of Deciduous Fruit Trees: Apple and Sweet Cherry

Nutrient uptake by trees is determined by root interception, soil availability, and tree demand. Fruit trees have low rooting density, especially in the case of dwarfing rootstocks. Mobility in the soil is a key factor in determining nutrient availability, and good management of nutrients requires that supply is matched to demand, in terms of amount, timing and retention in the root-zone, and t...

Effects of Putrescine Application and Fruit Thinning on Fruit Development and Return Bloom of Olive cv. Fishomi Tokhme-Kabki

In order to investigate the effects of putrescine on growth and development of olive fruits an experiment was conducted on Olea europaea ‘Fishomi Tokhme‌‌-‌‌Kabki’ trees in 2017 and 2018.The treatments included control (normal fruits and shotberries), normal fruits, shotberries, normal fruits with putrescine at 3 and 6 mM and shotberries with putrescine at 3 and 6 mM were sprayed on uniform bra...

Ascorbic acid metabolism during sweet cherry (Prunus avium) fruit development

To elucidate metabolism of ascorbic acid (AsA) in sweet cherry fruit (Prunus avium 'Hongdeng'), we quantified AsA concentration, cloned sequences involved in AsA metabolism and investigated their mRNA expression levels, and determined the activity levels of selected enzymes during fruit development and maturation. We found that AsA concentration was highest at the petal-fall period (0 days afte...

Temperatures after bloom affect plant growth and fruit quality of strawberry

The in ̄uence of four day/night temperature combinations (18/12, 25/12, 25/22, 30/22) on plant growth and fruit quality of `Earliglow' and `Kent' strawberry (Fragaria ananassa Duch.) were studied. The optimum day/night temperatures for leaf and petiole growth was 25/128C, while for roots and fruits it was at 18/128C. For the growth of the whole plant, 25/128C was also the optimum temperature. Fr...

Effect of plant growth regulators, fruit thinning, boron and calcium on growth indexs and seed yield of watermelon nuts

Watermelon nuts is widely cultivated in Khorasan Razavi for its edible seed production. Two experiments were therefore, conducted to increase seed production in Bahonar University of Kerman Research Station in 2013 and 2014. In first year, the effects of gibberellic acid (0 and 50 mg/l) and fruit number (1, 2 and 3 fruits /plant) were studied in 4 populations. In second year, the effects of 24-...
